Valentine's brews and kisses from canines

Sorry to break it to you, but it's Monday again. Yeah, I know, facing five straight work days is rough, but maybe if you plan on heading out for some bluegrass music tonight it will make the hours go by a little faster. Empire Dine & Dance is the place to be at 6 p.m. for a jam and then a show from the Stowaways. No cover.

Fashion from Africa, toboggan time and a Sunday for the ladies

This week, unwind during your lunch hour on Thursday by attending the Portland Conservatory of Music's Noonday Concert at First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church (425 Congress St.). The performance by Michael Albert and Bekkah Willey is free and it begins at 12:15 p.m.

Cajun cooking and Greendrinks highlight the week

Monday will likely be a day to recover from the excitement - and lateness - of another Patriots Super Bowl. So you may not be up for a big evening after work. Still, there's no reason not to go out for a drink - or two - when local bars and pubs like Samuel's, The New Venue and Ri Ra have such great happy hour specials.
