Want to See a Movie? Here's Where to Go!

There are dozens of movie theaters in Maine, but choose which one you go to carefully. The atmosphere is just as important as the film itself. If you are in an uncomfortable setting, how can you focus on the movie? I'm here to tell you the five BEST theaters in Maine.

5.The Movies on Exchange - No not the most comfortable theater in the world, but it does have those offbeat independant films you can't find anywhere else. The lack of decor is made up with the originality of films that are shown here.

4. Regal Cinemas Falmouth - I cannot explain a feeling. It is way too hard to do. But I have to say if you are going to a late night movie this is one of the most relaxing theaters. When walking in from the dark you are met by the warm colors of movie posters, banners, and the snack stand. There are plenty of interesting things to see on the walls and there are sometimes even murals painted on the large windows that look out into the parking lot. Waiting in line isn't too boring here. The smell in the air is also great. The scent of fresh popcorn makes you feel right at home when watching a great movie. While walking down the hallway to your theater, the lights are dimmer with movie posters for upcoming films that give a nice comfortable atmosphere to the entire setting. A great theater if you are with just a few friends or are on a date. Before the movie, the theater also entertains you with a short show called "The 20" which gives you inside info on the entertainment industry.

3. My hometown theater ranks number three on my list. Sanford's Smitty's Cinema & Pub offers you dinner and a movie. Instead of rows of seats in the theater there are rows of tables that allow you to easilly eat your food and watch the film at the same time. I suggest the "Man on Fire Tenders with Extra Bleu Cheese." There are dozens of items to choose from, not to mention desserts and drinks, to make your dinner complete.

2. Cinemagic in Saco has a huge lobby lined with every movie poster known to man. These include posters for films that will not come out for months. This theater has dozens of films to choose from. With over 12 theaters equipped with stadium seating you can't lose.

1. The Saco Drive - It is my favorite place to see a movie because you don't just see a movie, you see two. The double feature choices are usually a great combination of one genre of film. The first film will strike an interest to younger viewers, while the second feature will be entertaining to adults and teenagers. But the best part about this is the pricing. It is only twelve dollars for the first two people, then two dollars for each aditional person. For my family that is a total of eighteen dollars. But compare that to having to pay seven dollars per person, for a total of thirty five dollars at a normal theater. And that is just for one movie. You also don't need to worry about food. Bring whatever you want. Heck bring a small grill and have a barbecue! They won't stop you!
