NEW MOVIE REVIEWS
Take the Lead is a true story about a man, played by Antonio Benderas, who tries to turn Juvenille Delinquents' lives around through balroom dancing. The film is kind of a "School of Rock" meets "Shall We Dance" and is suprisingly entertaining for anyone. To begin with I thought it would be more of a "chick-flick" type teen movie, but it actually has something for everyone. It made ballrom dancing look like alot of fun and it showed how ballroom dancing can be interpreted different ways by different people (For instance, doing the foxtrot to Hip-Hop music... very interesting.) I definitely recomend this movie and say that even if you don't want to see it, go, because you will be plesently surprised.
Thank You for Smoking kicks the crap out of anything our parents have ever told us about tobacco. The film follows Nick Naylor a lobbyist for big tobacco companies, and shows how you can spin the truth to make people buy your product. The film is a hilarious spoof on marketing in the real world and will leave you laughing until the very end. This movie can be summed up in one word: AWESOME!
Duck Season really suprised me. Not only is it a well made independant film, but I was suprised when the film started and I couldn't understand a word anyone was saying.
BE WARNED: DUCK SEASON IS IN SPANISH!
After you get past the fact that you'll be reading for an hour and a half, the movie is really quite good. It follows two kids who are home alone on a Sunday night. They expect to only play video games and drink Coke, but their next door neighbor comes over to use the stove. While she is in the next room making "special brownies" the kids order a pizza. The pizza man is two minutes late delivering the pizza, and though the kids fairly deserve the free food, the delivery boy refuses to leave without his money. This movie is really very good, but I wouldn't suggest ti to anyone, because I don't know anyone who would have the patience to sit through a foreign film that has very little action. If you don't mind movies like this, then go see "Duck Season."
I also have to admit something to the world... This weekend I saw "The Notebook" and I liked it... well now that I have that off my chest
RENT "THE SQUID AND THE WHALE!" IT IS ONE OF THE BEST WRITTEN FILMS I'VE SEEN SINCE "CRASH" OR "SIDEWAYS."
